The New Albany High School Theatre Department is excited to present The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in Mershad Hall at the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts from April 18th - April 28th!

The play is the story of Christopher Boone, a fifteen-year old boy with autism spectrum disorder. It begins with Christopher's discovery of his neighbor's dead dog. The dog, Wellington, has been speared with a garden fork. Under suspicion himself over Wellington's death, Christopher decides to investigate the murder, recording his thoughts in a book he is writing for school. Christopher is extraordinarily intelligent, brilliant at maths and very interested in astronomy. However, he is ill-equipped to deal with everyday life, especially when it involves other people. Christopher has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, abhors being touched, and distrusts strangers. As he continues his investigation of Wellington's death, even though his father has forbidden it, he begins to discover truths about himself and his family, which leads him on a frightening journey that completely upturns his world.

Winner of seven 2013 Olivier Awards and five 2015 Tony Awards, including Best Play, the play has been hailed by critics and audiences alike. Mark Haddon's novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, upon which the play is based, won more than 17 literary awards when it was first published in 2003, including the prestigious Whitbread Book of the Year Award in the U.K. in 2004.

April is National Autism Awareness month. For more information on autism spectrum disorder, we recommend exploring the following hashtags: #AutismAwareness, #LightItUpBlue, and #StandUpForAutism or by visiting the websites of Autism Speaks or the Autism Society.
